Cheryl Jane Collier was born on April 9, 1958, to Donald and Sybil Collier. She was admitted to the Utah State Training School (now USDC) in November of 1966. USDC has been her home for the last 57 years. Cheryl passed away at the age of 65. She is survived by her mother, three half siblings, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her staff at USDC. She is preceded in death by her father.
Cheryl loved musicals and enjoyed singing along to songs. Cheryl enjoyed going to work where she would make all sorts of crafts. She loved animals, especially giraffes. She would often say "don't be a brat, be a giraffe". She loved to follow staff around the apartment and help with different chores. She loved attending church and visiting with her friends and the volunteers. She loved watching movies, such as Mickey Mouse ClubHouse. She would raise her arms and say "cheers!". While watching Harry Potter she would cast spells on her roommates and staff. She loved to have 60's music nights and parties with her staff. She loved to be at the dance with everyone and would sing and dance with a big smile on her face. She loved to have her beaded necklace and sunglasses. She hated lasagna unless it was pureed. She sometimes liked magazines and other times would like to throw them. You had to be careful with your drinks or she would sneak a taste or drink all of it. First thing every morning she would wake up and ask for cheese.
Cheryl had a fun personality and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and those who knew and loved her.
