Charles Llewelyn

October 19, 1945 — August 14, 2021

The evening of August 14, 2021, an electrical lightning storm lit up the skies of Las Vegas as heaven prepared to welcome home God's loving, strong, stubborn, resilient son, Charles LeRoy Llewelyn. Our hearts smiled at the tribute, as he had worked over 50 years of his life as an electrician. The departure was unexpected and arose suddenly after complications from a liver biopsy test.  He left this world after listening to his son Lance’s voice earlier that day, and was surrounded by the love of his life, Cerise, and daughters Misti and Brandi and Mindi.

LeRoy is survived and loved by his beautiful wife of 46 years, Cerise Llewelyn (Beckstead), his daughters, Misti  Cohen (Jason), Brandi Llewelyn, Lance Eddington (Heather), Mindi Holmdahl (Paul), 9 amazing grandchildren who he loved dearly (Jack Charles, Juliet, Madeline, Isabelle and Porter, Braden, Max, Bo, Maggie), his sister, Annett Facer (David) and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

LeRoy was born October 19, 1945 in Salt Lake City at LDS hospital to his parents Henry Isaiah Llewelyn and Nina Lillian Kent Llewelyn. He lived in  Alpine, Utah on their family farm with his older brother Gerald (d1998), and his sister Annett Facer.  He attended American Fork High School and then attended Utah State for 2 years, before returning home to help his parents with their farm when his father was disabled. He joined the Army in 1966 and was trained as a sharpshooter.  After being honorably discharged, he began his career as an electrician. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Gerald (d1998) and Kent Llewelyn (d1944).

Dad was an “oldie but a goodie” and a pure gentleman. He was always there for you, and always made you feel welcomed.  He never complained, unless the food was too healthy, and he never boasted, unless he was talking about his wife, kids or grandchildren. He was happiest with the simple things in life: vitamin D milk, pink sugar cookies, cheddar cheese with pepper, white bread, and sea salt potato chips. He loved spending time with his family more than anything. He was a natural, “slightly” competitive athlete, who always played fair, but hard; even if it meant breaking a wrist or a collarbone to ensure the win for his team. Most importantly, he always respected your opinion, unless, of course, you disagreed with him politically.

It is hard to believe that he is gone, but his smile, strength, life lessons and unconditional love will continue to be an inspiration to everyone who knew him. He will remain in our hearts, forever and always, until we meet again.

Family, friends, and others of LeRoy (Dad, Le, Lew) are invited to Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Graveside services will be at Alpine Cemetery and afterwards family and friends are invited to Creekside Park (East Pavillion) after to eat, reminisce, support each other, and of course just chat... exactly what he would have wanted.
