Carol Goodman

Carol Jean Downey Goodman, aged 82, of American Fork, Utah, passed peacefully into the next life on May 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on September 10, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Carol was the cherished daughter of Frank and Stella Downey. She married the love of her life and true companion, Kenneth Ralph Goodman, on June 23, 1961, in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple.

Carol was an industrious, refined, and vivacious woman. She loved learning and found her personal calling in teaching-inspiring countless children as an elementary school teacher. She mentored and taught missionaries as a mission leader with her husband in Milan and Catania, Italy, as well as in the Provo Missionary Training Center. She and Kenneth also served a mission in the LDS temple in Guatemala City.

Carol cultivated beauty through her talents for gardening, quilting, and hosting parties. She took great pride in furnishing her home with art pieces gathered from traveling and living all around the world. Carol was lovely, adventurous, witty, and a fierce advocate for the people and beliefs she cared about. She leaves a legacy of family connection through her sixty-four-year marriage and strong devotion to temple worship and family history.

Carol loved-and was dearly loved by-her family, which includes her children: Brian (Lesley), Curtis (Sheila), Michael (Jade), Mary Ann (Randall) Hayes, and David (Deborah), 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Kenneth, her parents, Frank and Stella, a stillborn son, Matthew, and her siblings, Kent and Marilyn.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 1305 N 100 E, American Fork, Utah 84003, with a viewing beforehand from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Highland City Cemetery.
