Brent Elwood Pace, born Brent Don Singleton, passed away quietly in his sleep late Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the ripe young age of 72. He never considered himself old.
Born on February 19, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Don Keith Singleton and Valjeanne Cora Cassity, he had one older sister at the time of his birth a sister and two younger brothers followed. Later, his parents divorced. His mom married Morgan Pace, where he gained an older brother and a sister. His dad married Kathleen Grow Randle, where he gained four more siblings. Brent loved being a brother. He only saw a sibling, never a half or a step, they were just his brother or sister.
Brent loved making people smile or a laugh. Whether it was wearing a cape to school pretending to be Batman or wearing some kind of weird beads to school, where he earned the nickname "Beads-O". Brent always used to joke that he was an outstanding student... out standing in the halls for making the others students laugh in class and sometimes the teacher.
Right after graduating from Granite High School in 1972 he joined the U.S. Army and left for Boot Camp. On October 1,1975, he met Goldie Rae Bowman at the old Westerner in Salt Lake City, Utah. He told his best friend Don Sloan that was the woman he was going to marry. He did just that. On June 28, 1976, Brent and Goldie were married in American Fork, Utah. Brent loved being a dad to Goldie's young son, Lonnie. A little time later, the couple welcomed a baby girl, Monica. One of the happiest days of Brent's life was when he officially adopted Lonnie as his own son. On November 2,2021, Brent and Goldie were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah for time and all eternity. Monica was also sealed to them at that time.
Brent and Goldie lived from Sandy, Utah to Eagle Mountain, Utah (with places in between), but lived most of their life in American Fork, Utah.
After odds and ends jobs, Brent joined the Utah Army National Guard where he enjoyed working in several different units in Utah, including the 1457th Engineer Battalion in American Fork, at the Lehi Armory, but his favorite was at Camp Williams. Brent loved serving his country and was very proud to be a veteran.
Brent loved camping, fishing, and hunting (more for the camping than the hunting), especially with his father-in-law. He learned small engine repair as well as car repair from his father-in-law. He was always grateful for all that his father-in-law taught him. Brent liked joking that he was a "Jack of all trades, master of none." Brent always had a smile to give to others, especially if they were missing their own. He was quick with a joke and liked making all feel welcome. Brent loved animals and taking in strays, a quality he passed down to his daughter.
Brent loved his family greatly. He loved being a husband, a dad, a grandpa, and a great-grandpa. He leaves behind his beloved wife Goldie, his son Lonnie (Amber) Pace, daughter Monica A. Pace, granddaughters Meranda (Jason) Parkin, Abagail Pace, Alyson (Trevor) Jensen, Grandson Dayton Pace, Great-grandchildren Athena Nat'e (Tae) Nakai, Michael (Mikey) Miller, Alia Jensen, Theo Jensen, Theran Ames Parkin, Rip Knight,
Baby Parkin. Siblings: Cliff (Julie) Randle, Sharon Pace, Kathy Nelson, Deborah (Michael) Ipson, Launa (Clay) Arnell, Susan John, Julie (Jay) Ulmer, Sandy Joe Pace. Plus many other family and friends.
Preceded in death by both his dad and mom, Don and Kathleen Singleton, his mom and step-dad Valjeanne and Morgan Pace, his older brother and his wife Clarke and Nell Pace, his best friend and his wife Don and Annette Sloan, his brother Morgan C. Pace, nephews Dylan Walgren and Jeremy John and niece Mallory Clements. His fur babies: Lady and Kenny (dogs) and Blackie and Chance (cats). (Brent reminded us that we had to include them in his obituary.)
Brent will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
