Barbara Marie Greenland Reisner passed peacefully on Friday, March 20, at the age of 90, surrounded by family. Born October 30, 1935, in Highland, Utah, Barbara was the daughter of Henry and Marie Greenland. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and taught by example how to follow the Savior.In her youth, she sang and performed in a family band. Barbara loved gardening, quilting, singing, reading, playing piano and violin, studying the scriptures and road trips with her family. Her compassion for others was exemplified by acts of service including making quilts as gifts or delivering food to those in need. Barbara served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as a temple worker in the Manti temple.
Barbara married the love of her life, Richard, on June 6, 1956, in the Salt Lake Temple after their graduation from Brigham Young University. She earned both a Master's in Education and Gerontology from BYU. They shared 32 years wonderful years together until his death in 1991. After his passing, she found joy in teaching her students and serving her children, grandchildren, and those around her.Barbara worked with her husband in construction and nursing home businesses, taught special education at American Fork High School, and was a librarian in Gunnison, Utah. She was awarded a special scholarship to study at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. and with the Royal Shakespeare Company in London for her work incorporating Shakespeare into her special education curriculum. In her later years, she was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in both Utah and Nevada.Barbara leaves behind 7 children: Cindy (Bill) Badger, Jack (Janet) Reisner, Karl (Kristina) Reisner, Julie (Chad) Watson, Anita (Mark) Lyons, Sam (Ilanna) Reisner, and Becky (Rick) Alexander; as well as 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, brother Bruce (Lamuette) Greenland, and niece Tiffany (Nathan) Kahlbaum.We invite you to celebrate Barbara's life during the upcoming funeral services, which will be held on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, located at 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. A visitation will take place before the service from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Barbara will be laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery.
