Antone Holmes

November 22, 1960 — July 22, 2025

Antone Rex Holmes AKA Rooster

It saddens our hearts deeply to inform everyone that on July 22, 2025 at 6:39 p.m. Antone took his last breath to begin his journey home with his close family surrounding him until the very end. Although our hearts were breaking into pieces, we knew that his love ones had been waiting for so long until he joined them on the other side.

Antone was born November 22, 1960. He grew up in Lehi with a loving, hardworking family. He played football and ran track through High School, holding records for many years after graduating. Working, chores, training and helping anyone in town. Always doing something from sun up to sun down.

On July 11, 1980 he married his beautiful soulmate Cindy (Cynthia) Colledge. They began their marriage and life together raising her youngest brother Robert Colledge AKA Goose. In 1982 they had their first of two daughters, Erica Holmes and in 1985 Kandis (Holmes) Miller joined the family.

Antone lived his life working hard to provide for his family. Always putting himself last. He held his head high, so proud of all that he accomplished knowing every penny he earned he got it honest.

Antone left a lasting impression on everyone he met. You either loved him or you didn't. There was no in between with him. He definitely made sure you knew where you stood without holding back. If you needed advice, he was full of knowledge willing to share. A man of many talents. There wasn't anything he couldn't do. No matter what it was he put everything he had into it to be sure it was perfect every time. He had so many experiences and stories to tell. Making people laugh was one of his favorite things to do.

He worked for the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 for 45 years. Just as his father did. He was one of the best Crane Operators there was around. A living legend there wasn't anything he couldn't do.

He loved raising quite the variety of birds and water fowl. All animals, hunting, fishing, camping, being outdoors, many other things and hobbies, but he loved his family the most. Those that could see past his rough exterior are those of us that were blessed to be loved by a man that had a heart so giant and worth more than any amount of weight in gold. From the first glance most would never see, but those that did had experienced the greatest love, respect and loyalty. A man that would give the shirt off his back or last dime to his name to anyone that was truly in need.

A very special woman captured his whole heart full of love from the very start. Some would question why his amazing wife Cindy could stay by his side when times were extremely rough. His beautiful loving wife is a walking Angel without wings. She was the greatest gift in his life. He gave her his entire loving heart to her up until he took his last breath. He asked for one more kiss from his loving wife. Cindy stayed by his side as his partner for life and best friend. She was blessed to have this rough man's giant heart. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for her and his loyal family. She was always the first. She experienced the most magical love from him and she would always be the only one. Things were never perfect. They were perfectly imperfect, and that could never be broken. Through every challenge they grew stronger. The family they created continued to grow stronger together no matter what.

As their daughters grew and began families of their own. Tone started to show his softer side as each grandkid was born. He showed an even softer more gentle side, of course, the grandkids didn't do wrong near as often as his daughters. As the grandkids began families of their own, to our surprise, the great grandkids could absolutely do no wrong ever. We all had a strong, wise and inspiring mentor that we learned so much from.

Antone Rex Holmes (Rooster) is now being reunited with many loved ones that he has been longing to see. They have been patiently waiting their turn to be with him on the other side. He will be deeply missed by so many of us that truly loved him. We'll see you later, but we know you will be around because you warned us you won't be going very far, so you can haunt each one of us until we are joined together again.

Antone is survived by the love of his life his wife Cindy Holmes, brother-in-law (son) Robert Colledge, 2 daughters Erica Holmes and Kandis (Cal ((deceased)) Miller, 3 grandkids: Allie (Austinn) Howard, Dylan (Kelsey) Barnes, and Corporal Emmett, Wyatt J., 4 great grandkids: Kinsley Howard, Kolson Howard, Bentliee Barnes, Stetson Barnes, sister-in-laws LuDean Bishop, Mari Hobi & Kris Colledge, his favorite aunt and uncle Jeanine & Cal Cook, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many loving friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Rex Holmes, mother Kay Holmes, grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, aunts, sons-in-law Cal Miller, Dennis McCoy, brothers-in-law: Billy (Honey) Bishop, Brent Hobi, Victor Colledge and Kevin Colledge, many family-in-laws, and plenty of his friends and loved ones.
