Ann Heather Deering, 65, passed away on February 22, 2023, in American Fork, Utah. She was born on December 6, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii to William Deering and Margaret Trout.
Heather was the epitome of the aloha spirit—friendly to everyone she met, kind and supportive to friends and family, and one of the most generous souls to ever live. She was fun, adventurous, and always had a smile on her face. She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews and treated them as though they were her own children. She was a very devoted family member, especially to her beloved father, and she knew how everyone was related and fit into the family—if you had a genealogy question, Heather was the source you would go to. She was the glue of the family and attended every important event and function, representing the love and support of other family members when they could not be there.
She attended the Kamehameha Schools, BYU-Hawaii, and Hawaii-Pacific University earning her nursing degree. She worked in numerous hospitals and clinics, including returning to Kamehameha as a school nurse. Heather was soon to retire from working at the state of Utah Department of Health.
Heather was an accomplished swimmer, scuba-diver, and hula dancer. She was also a devoted church member who served faithfully and selflessly. After spending most of her life in Kailua, Oahu, she was the first of the family to move to Utah. As her nieces and nephews came here for school, she was a big part of their lives and continued to be the foundation of her ‘ohana. Later, her brothers and sister moved to Utah as well.
Heather is survived by her siblings: Tay (Jenny) Deering, Susan (Richard) Willing, and John Deering, her 7 nieces and nephews, and her 24 grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret, her stepmother Miriam, and her great-grandmother Lydia B. Colburn.
The service for Heather Deering will be held on Friday, March 3rd at 11:00 AM, at 1125 West 300 North, Lehi. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to the services. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
Please share a memory in Heather's guest book. Mahalo.
