Anita Reid passed away peacefully on November 2, 2023, surrounded by family, and most importantly, on her terms, after a week of saying her good-byes to friends and loved ones.
She was born Anita Pearl Fillmore to Rhea Anderson and Rex Q. Fillmore on May 5, 1940. She grew up in Castle Dale and on the family farm in Lawrence, Utah, graduating from Emery High School in Huntington where she was a member of the Color Guard.
She married Vaughn W. Reid on June 14, 1958, and together they raised 6 children; Nancy Kay, Linda, Amy, Christy, Lisa, and Ted. They later divorced.
Anita was asked to work as teacher's assistant to a dear friend at a school for children with disabilities: this work would blossom into a love for those who needed assistance to live their lives. After raising her children, Anita went to school to become an LPN. She worked for many years as the Director of Nursing at Medallion Manor in Provo. Anyone who ever saw her at work could attest to the love and patience with which she cared for the residents there.
In the later years of her life, all of her children would have the opportunity to live with, or have Anita live with them, allowing lasting relationships to flourish in her golden years.
Anita is survived by her children, their spouses, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
