Anita Christiansen

July 10, 1939 — June 2, 2014

Our sweet, angelic mother Anita Louise Christiansen, 74, of Highland Utah, passed away June 2nd during her favorite past time: hiking with her best friend--her husband of 55 years, Richard Christiansen.
She was born July 10, 1939 in Andalusia Alabama to Mollie and William C Stuckey.
She met Richard in 10th grade math class in 1955. Richard fell in love the moment he laid eyes on her, and after Richard made his interest known, Anita insisted they couldn't date unless their homework was completed.
This was the first of many ways she gently guided Richard to reach his full potential. They graduated High School as members of the National Honors Society, were voted as the "Most Studious Couple", and Anita was Valedictorian. So the "no dates until after homework is done" rule really paid off, because Richard REALLY wanted to date her.
Anita graduated Nursing School and become a Registered Nurse (especially for her 9 rambunctious children), while motivating and inspiring her husband to get his Masters and PHD and become the world's greatest professor of Electrical Engineering at BYU.
She lived most of her adult life in Highland, Utah, as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, and her two grandsons Jethro Christiansen and Samwise Grover.
She is survived by her husband Richard Christiansen, her sisters Sybil Levan and Joyce Scales of Tyrone Georgia, her 9 children and their spouses: Mark Christiansen (Jann), Jeff Christiansen (Lisa), Laura Dayley (Kurtis), Shannon Grover (Alex), Pamela Anderson (Trever), Michael Christiansen (Angela), Craig Christiansen (Ange), Heidi Lee (Jeremy), and Leah Vincent (Michael). She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren--whom she delightfully spoiled every chance she got.
Heaven is now filled with the pleasant aroma of freshly baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and the comforting sounds of a rocking chair and lullabies as she rocks her not-yet-born grand-babies to sleep.
We miss you Mother Dear. And will love you always.
