Michael Bromley

August 17, 1941 — October 17, 2017

The family of Michael Fredrick Bromley announce with sadness and joy the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He completed his earthly assignment on October 17, 2017, at his home in Saratoga Springs in the presence of his family.
Michael was born on August 17, 1941 in the old American Fork Hospital to Margaret Green Bromley and Adair Wootton Bromley. He joined a wonderful family Robert, Adair, Jess, Carolyn and Richard. At 5 years of age, he contracted polio and was paralyzed below the waist. The Sister Kinney treatment, under the direction of the County Nurse, Mabel Jones, was administered by his mother, sister, and friends. He recovered to lead a full and active life.
Following his graduation from American Fork High School, he attended Utah State University. He was called to serve in the Southern States Mission where a firm testimony and eternal friendships were made. He loved to serve his Heavenly Father and was called as Bishop of the American Fork 11th Ward. He loved the members so much and those friendships continued to bless him throughout his life.
On April 1, 1965, Michael and Catherine Faye Reed were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple by President Benjamin Bowring. They were blessed to be parents of Michael (Gloria), Reed (Rhonda), Jess (Sarah), Lori (Colin), Trisha (Chris), John (Sandra) and James (Darcelle). 33 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mike and Cathy had a testimony of the Lamanite Placement Program and treasured these children as their own: Ben Dixson; LaVina Greymountain (Alex) Nez; Dana Jones; Jackie Kinlacheny; Tammy Joseph (Dan) Thompson; Garrilyn Begay; Philbert Yazzie; and Keralee Joseph. The Bromley Family also includes Pakeina (Maile) Latu; Rick Ledbedder, Lucretia Barber; Rotary Exchange students Peter Juul and Silvia Bleyer
Mike enjoyed growing up in a farming environment and desired to raise his family in a similar setting. Following his mission, he began that dream with one coop of chickens. Some of his favorite memories were working with Mike, Scott, Dennis, Bill, Julie, Lori, Juana, Guadalupe and countless others to expand the operation. The U S Jaycees recognized Mike as one of four Outstanding Young Farmers in America in 1977. He valued his membership in Farm Bureau, various egg associations, Rotary Club, Federal Land Bank and BYU Cougar Club.
In the words of C S Lewis, "The present is the point at which time touches eternity", we are at this point. We're grateful for the many lessons we've learned. Foremost is the principle of enduring to the end with joy and grace. Even though he was very direct and open with his opinions in life, never once did we hear him complain. Although confined to his bed, he expressed gratitude with a smile to those who helped him. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the IHC Hospice Team, especially Adrien, Kim, Betsy, Brooke, Mike, Karen and Drs. Marlan Hansen and Von Welch for the compassionate care they provided. Thanks, also, to the family and many friends who have ministered to him. We love you all.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Adair and Jess. He is survived by his immediate family.
"A father's love warms the hearts of his children forever." Anon.
