Mabel LaBrune

May 3, 1927 — September 8, 2016

Mabel (Ginger) Therese LaPointe LaBrune passed peacefully in her home on the morning of Thursday, September 8th, 2016. She leaves a legacy of love, laughter, integrity and a deep and abiding faith in the Savior. Through her example of a gospel-centered life, she taught her children and grandchildren the power of prayer, the power of faith, the power of forgiveness. She was truly good and without guile.
Born on May 3, 1927 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, Ginger was the third child of Lionel Joseph LaPointe and Aurore Elodia (Gaumonde) LaPointe. At the tender age of seven, her mother passed away and a short time later her grandmother passed away. These early losses left a tenderness in her heart that continued throughout her life. On November 17th, 1957 she married the love of her life, Lawrence Daniel LaBrune Sr. Their civil marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on February 14th, 1976. These two great and noble spirits created an environment filled with a love of learning, a love of the outdoors and a home where the Spirit would be welcomed. They were exemplary examples of loyalty to each other, to their family, friends and to
Ginger's mortal journey was filled with both joyous days and days of trial. As she passed through trials her faith never wavered. Losing her beloved husband almost seven years ago may have been her biggest test. However, even this most daunting of trials was faced with grace and patience. Her sure knowledge that she would be reunited with him and have him for the eternities strengthened her and those around her.
Ginger served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with a happy and willing heart. She accepted callings and completed her assignments with exactness. She served her fellowman because she loved them. She loved her fellowman because she first loved the Lord. She was obedient and faithful to the end and most assuredly has had the singular joy of hearing, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
Ginger is survived by her four children: Patrick (Kathryn) LaBrune, Steven LaBrune,
Lawrence (Terece) LaBrune II, Kathy (Ray) Kinghorn and her brother, Roger (Claire) LaPointe. Her posterity includes 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary at 49 East 100 North at 11:00a.m. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 prior.
