James Moore

James Edward Stace Moore, 76, passed away on March 21, 2017 in American Fork, Utah.

He was born on June 18, 1940 in San Francisco, California to Alfred Henry and Jeanne A. Phillips Moore.

In 1959 he entered the U.S. Navy, serving for three years in the Pacific on the USS Lexington until being stationed in Alameda, CA on the USS Hancock. He attended the College of San Mateo and later became a Master Electrician.

Jim married Pamela Martin in the Los Angeles Temple in 1962. They raised two daughters, Tamara and Christa, in San Mateo. In 1970 Pamela and Tamara were tragically killed in an automobile accident.

In 1971 he married Karen Grace Kramer in the Oakland Temple and they lived in San Carlos, CA, raising Stephanie Alice (Karen's daughter) and Christa Carlene (Jim's daughter), and later a son, James Herbert Stace. In 1975 they moved to American Fork, Utah and then to Highland into the home he built himself, where a fourth child, Marianne Elizabeth, was born.

Jim worked for Geneva Steel and later became an electrical engineer and project manager for Abbott Laboratories. He retired in 1997.

Jim deeply reverenced his country and was a student of United States History.  He loved animals and had a small farm in Highland. He also loved the outdoors, hiking, and fishing and delighted sharing these activities with his grandchildren, who were his biggest fans!

Jim was a kind man who enjoyed serving others, building their confidence, and teaching them. He was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In his final years he was plagued with health problems, including Leukemia, yet he rose early every morning to work in the yard or on his various projects.
He will be sorely missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen, his children: Stephanie (Bodo) Glaser, Christa (Timothy) Falvey, James (Tijon) Moore, Marianne (David) Kimball, and 11 grandchildren, his brother,William Philips Moore, and his mother-in-law, Berniece Barratt Kramer.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Day Meadows Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6050 W Chapel Dr., Highland, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a final visitation from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Highland City Cemetery.
