Dorothy Pimentel

Dorothy Wyllie Low Pimentel passed on quietly on August 3, 2010 in Taylorsville, Utah.
Dorothy was born December 27, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland. She had quite an adventurous life. She made it through World War II and the bombings. She tested out of school at the age of 15 and went to work at James Howden & Company in Glasgow. She was a payroll clerk and worked the key punch machine entering payroll information for the computer. She met Peter Low, who was a Draftsman for James Howden and they were married on October 1, 1948. The following year they immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, coming by ship all the way up the Saint Lawrence Seaway. In 1957 they immigrated to the United States, precisely, Los Angeles, California.
Dorothy traveled quite a bit and enjoyed seeing new places and meeting the people there. She had been to Hawaii, Japan, the Philippine Islands (on 2 separate occasions), Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Germany, Belgium, France and England.
She lived most of her adult life in southern California with a short time spent in Spokane, Washington.
Dorothy was an avid golfer, through rain, typhoon weather, and hot sunny days, she could be found on a course somewhere.
Dorothy also enjoyed being a "Pink Lady", volunteering at Tri-City Medical Center in Vista, California.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her brothers, Bert Nicol and John Wyllie, her first husband, Peter Low (1977) and her second husband, Donald Pimentel (1994).
She is survived by her daughter, Fiona Spath (Jack); her son, Colin Low (Felicia); grandsons, Andrew Spath (Julie); Ian Spath (Monica); Jonathan Low (Jill); and Chris Low; great grandchildren, Zachary Spath; Jacob Spath; Joshua Spath; Shantel Singleton; and Austin Spath.

Dear Fiona and Colin,

Alistair and I, along with our families, send you and your families our deepest condolences.

We all have many fond memories of visiting with the Low family in Whittier when we had newly arrived in the United States in 1998. It was so nice for us to have family to help us settle in to our new way of life in California.

In lieu of flowers we will send a donation, in Dorothy's name, to the Alzheimer's Association of America.

Love,
Louise and Alistair
