Alice Mae Hone Whiteman

Alice Mae Hone Wright Whiteman passed away on March 8, 2010. She was born on February 19, 1925 to Everett and Verge Higginson Hone in Benjamin, Utah, the second of 10 children; Alice graduated from Spanish Fork High School and then worked as a forklift driver to support the war effort. She married Henry J. Wright in January 1944. Alice married Robert (Bob) Whiteman in August 1950. Alice and Bob moved to American Fork in 1957. While Bob worked at Geneva Steel and union official, Alice made a beautiful home for their five children. Alice was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to cook and every kid in the neighborhood loved her fresh baked cookies. Alice was active in community affairs and often served as an election judge.
Alice was always there for family, friends and neighbors. She cared deeply for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could always be depended to help in emergencies and celebrate in good times. After Bob died in 1980, Alice went back to school and worked at the State Developmental center until she retired. She loved to read, travel and spend time shopping or traveling with friends and family. She volunteered at the Senior Citizens and Greenwood School helping students with reading.
Alice is survived by five children, Robert (Margaret) Wright, Barbara (Daniel) Morehouse, Bill Whiteman, Kathy Nelson, and David (Sheree) Whiteman, 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Ray and Floyd; one sister, Dora; and two sisters-in-law, Edith and Marie Hone. Viewing will be held Thursday, March 11, at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary at 49 East 100 North in American Fork, Utah from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m,, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.
