Dean Mitchell Smith

1942-2010
Dean Mitchell Smith passed away peacefully at home with his family March 4, 2010 after enduring a courageous battle with cancer.
Dean was born March 2, 1942 in American Fork to Dean Leon Smith and Theresa Mitchell Smith. He was raised in Pleasant Grove until the age of ten. He moved to American Fork where he spent the next 58 years. He met and married his sweetheart, Jacquelynne (Jackie) Flygare in 1962. Later they were sealed forever in the Salt Lake Temple in 1992. Together they have four children. Dean spent 39 years with Utah Power & Light where he made many lasting friendships.
Dean and his wife spent many memorable days together in the outdoors. Pursuing big German Browns on the rivers and streams, monster Mule Deer and a flock of Geese in the decoys were second only to his family. He always loved and remembered his extended family, friends and neighbors.
Survived by his loving companion of 48 years and children: Teena (Ken) Chadwick, Dean L. (Michelle) Smith, Angela (David) Miller, and Jacquelynne (Dean) Turner, 13 loving grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his loyal side-kick Jedediah (Jed). Preceded in death by his parents and his loving angel great granddaughter Colette Eliza Chadwick.
Services will be held Tuesday March 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel on Boat Harbor Road, 600 South 100 West, American Fork.
