Dear Barbara and family:
My heart goes out to you at this trying time of your life. I know somewhat of
what you are feeling---but know that you have endured well the challenges presented
throughout the years and will meet this challenge too. We as a family have always
admired you and Eddie and your children.
Monta thought so much of you Barbara. She counted you as one of her closest
friends, and really as a sister. We always looked forward to our visits to
the 'valley' in July, and the going out to dinner with the Jacksons.
As I have thought about the early days of our marriages (Jacksons and Smiths), the
working together at Woolco, and just being friends. Of your visits to Mesa, and stay-
ing with us. What fun we had. I remember when your car was parked in the parking lot
at Woolco--away from the front of the store so it wouldn't get nicked or run into by
shopping carts. It was destroyed by the two cars that crashed into each other and
then both hit your car not just once but twice. If I remember correctly, it totaled
your nearly new Chevy Caprice. I think Eddie's remark, was 'well that is just the
luck of the Jacksons'.
May you have the blessing of peace and comfort in the next few days, and
especially later. May you have good health and the comfort of knowing that you will
make it throught this challenge. I'll call you later---Love to you all
Jerry & the late Monta Smith & family
